What Hits Harder 1 Ohm or 4 Ohm?

There is a lot of debate in the car audio world about what hits harder, 1 ohm or 4 ohm? Some people swear by 1 ohm because they believe it provides more power and better sound quality. Others prefer 4 ohms because they feel it is more stable and lasts longer.

1 Ohm or 4 Ohm: Which One Is Hardest-Hitting?

Impedance is the measurement of resistance in an electrical circuit. The lower the impedance, the less resistance to the current flow. In other words, a low impedance speaker will allow more current to flow through it than a high impedance speaker.

Many people might automatically assume that a low impedance speaker is better because it can handle more power – but that’s not always true. It all depends on what you’re looking for in sound quality. For example, a higher impedance speaker might give you better sound quality because it has less distortion

Impedance can be tricky to understand regarding audio quality and sound equipment, even if you know about frequency range, sensitivity or power handling. It all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day and what kind of setup you have.

For example, if you have a powerful amplifier, you might want to go with lower impedance speakers. But if you’re looking for the best sound quality, then higher impedance speakers might be the way to go.

This guide will explore what hits harder, 1 ohm or 4 ohm, and conclude which one is better.

What Hits Harder 1 Ohm Or 4 Ohm? – Few Things to Keep in Mind

When it comes to car audio, there are many things that you need to consider. Speaker impedance is measured in ohms and is the resistance your speakers have to the current flowing through them. The lower the impedance, the easier it is for your amplifier to push the current and produce sound.

It will help if you keep in mind a few things when deciding what speaker impedance to go with. The first is that lower impedance speakers will require more power from your amplifier to produce the same amount of sound as higher impedance speakers.

So, if you’re looking for a loud, powerful bass, you’ll want to go with lower impedance speakers. However, if you’re looking for the best sound quality, higher impedance speakers might be the way to go.

Another thing to remember is that multiple speakers wired in parallel will half the total impedance. So, if you have two four-ohm speakers wired in parallel, they will effectively have a two-ohm impedance. That can be useful if you’re looking to increase the power output of your system without changing anything else.

So, what’s the bottom line? If you’re looking for loud, powerful bass, lower impedance speakers are the way to go. However, higher impedance speakers might be better if you look for the best sound quality.

Ultimately, it all comes down to personal preference and what you’re looking to get out of your system.

Distinctiveness Between 1 Ohm and 4 Ohms

The main difference between a one-ohm and a four-ohm speaker is the amount of current. The lower the impedance, the more current will flow. This also means that one-ohm speakers are typically more efficient than four-ohm speakers, meaning they can produce louder sounds with less power. However, this also means that one-ohm speakers tend to be more expensive than their eight-ohm counterparts.

When it comes to car audio, there are two types of people: loud bass and those who want clear sound quality. If you fall into the former category, you’ll probably be better off with a lower impedance speaker. However, if you’re more concerned with sound quality, a higher impedance speaker might be better.

It’s up to you to decide whether loud bass or clear sound quality is more important. We recommend talking to an expert at your local car audio store if you can’t decide. They’ll be able to help you choose the right speakers for your needs.

Importance of Speaker Impedance

The impedance of a speaker is important because it determines how much power the speaker can handle. If you try to play music through a speaker with too low impedance, you could damage the speaker. On the other hand, if you have a speaker with too high of an impedance, it won’t be able to play music as loudly as you might want.

Most home theater systems are designed for speakers with four ohms or more impedance. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. If you’re using multiple speakers in your system, it’s essential to ensure they all have the same impedance. That will ensure that they can safely handle the same amount of power.

So, what hits harder? In general, a speaker with a lower impedance will be able to play music louder than a speaker with a higher impedance. However, other factors can affect how loud a speaker can play, such as the size of the speaker and the type of material it’s made from.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what sounds best for your system. If you’re looking for a loud, booming sound, you’ll want to go with a low-impedance speaker. If you’re more concerned with quality over quantity, you’ll want to choose a high-impedance speaker.

Experiment with different types of speakers until you find the perfect match for your system.

How Does Impedance Affect the Way an Amplifier Works?

The short answer is that lower impedance loads place less strain on an amplifier, while higher impedance loads place more strain. When an amplifier is pushed to its limits, it can start to distort the signal that it’s amplifying. This distortion can result in a loss of sound quality. So, if you’re looking for the best sound quality, you’ll want to use speakers with a higher impedance.

However, if you’re looking for more volume, you’ll want to use speakers with a lower impedance. Lower impedance speakers are typically less efficient than higher impedance speakers. They require more power to produce the same volume as a higher impedance speaker.

So, if you’re deciding between using a lower impedance speaker or a higher impedance speaker, it comes down to what you’re looking for in terms of sound quality and volume. If you’re looking for the best sound quality, go with a higher impedance speaker. If you’re looking for more volume, then go with a lower impedance speaker.

Summing up

Although there are distinct differences about what hits harder 1 ohm or 4 ohm? The most important thing is selecting a speaker impedance that your amplifier can handle. Keep in mind the power rating of your amplifier when making your selection. If it’s not rated for a low impedance load, then don’t try to run a 1-ohm speaker on it.

Doing so could damage both your amp and your speakers. Always consult with the manufacturer’s recommendations before deciding which type of speaker to use.

FAQs

What is an ohm, and why is it important?

An ohm is a unit of measurement for electrical resistance. In-car audio speakers are typically available in 2-ohm, 4-ohm, and 8-ohm impedance ratings. The lower the number, the less resistance there is, and the easier it is for your amplifier to drive the speaker.

What are the differences between 1 ohm vs. 4 ohm?

The most significant difference between 1 ohm vs. 4 ohms is that 1 ohm is a lower impedance than 4 ohms. This means that 1-ohm speakers are more accessible for your amplifier to drive than 4-ohm speakers. However, 1-ohm speakers also require more power to produce the same volume as 4-ohm speakers.

What Does Parallel Wiring Mean?

Parallel wiring means that the Ohm of the speaker is divided in half. So, for example, if you have a four-ohm speaker, it would be cut in half to become two ohms. That is done by connecting the positive lead of one speaker to the negative lead of another speaker. That is because it lowers the impedance of the overall system and makes it easier for your amplifier to drive.

What Does Series Wiring Mean?

Series wiring means that the Ohm of the speaker is added together. So, for example, if you have two four-ohm speakers, they would be wired in series to create an eight-ohm load. That is done by connecting the positive lead of one speaker to the positive lead of the other speaker and then connecting the negative lead of one speaker to the negative lead of the other speaker. That increases the impedance of the overall system, which makes it more difficult for your amplifier to drive.

How many ohms is an open circuit?

An open circuit has an infinite amount of resistance and, therefore, zero ohms. As a result, there is no path for electrons to flow, so the current is zero. An open circuit is created when two conductors are not connected, either because they are not touching or because of a break in the conductor.

Can you run two subs off a mono amp?

Yes, you can. Many people do this to increase the bass output in their car audio system. However, there are a few things you need to keep in mind:

  1. When wiring two subs to a mono amp, you’ll need to use a speaker wire to connect one subwoofer’s negative terminal to the other subwoofer’s positive terminal. That will create a 4-ohm load on the amplifier, optimal for most mono amps.
  2. Make sure your amp has enough power to drive both subs. If not, you may need to invest in a more powerful amplifier.
  3. Be aware that running two subs off a mono amp will decrease the overall sound quality of your system due to the lower power output.

What Does Treble Frequency Do?

In the world of music, you always hear or read about treble frequency and bass. Even when adjusting your stereo settings, these two words typically pop up. But what is treble in music? What does treble do?

Treble Frequency: It’s Not Always All About The Bass

Treble in music refers to the high notes. It focuses on tones in which the range or frequency is at the higher end of human hearing. When you turn the treble up, it makes the sound more detailed or brighter.

In music, treble refers to the high notes. It talks about tones in which the range or frequency is at the higher end of human hearing. When you turn the treble up, it makes the sound more detailed or brighter. Read on to learn more about treble in music and what it does.

What Is Treble Frequency?

If you are familiar with bass and mid-range (or middle), you are most likely familiar with treble. They are all composed of an infinite number of frequencies. In which the highest of the three is the treble.

Originated from the Latin Word “Triplum”

Treble is a term that originated from the Latin word “triplum.” It was mostly used during the 13th century to identify the third and highest range of motets.

Highest Frequency of Sound

In music, treble means the highest frequency of sound. It usually ranges between 6,000 Hz and 20,000 Hz. So, when you try to increase the sensitivity of the treble in an audio system, the sound then becomes more detailed and brighter. You will notice that the high notes are more emphasized.

What Does Treble Do?

Represented by Treble or G Clef

Treble in music consists of different variations. As for written music, it is represented by a music scripture known as the treble clef.

The treble clef is more commonly known as the G clef. It signifies the degree and pitch of notes with higher sounds. In essence, it notates musical notes above the middle C position on the stave’s second-lowest line.

Instruments That Use Treble Clef

Many musical instruments use the treble clef. These include the saxophone, guitar, trumpet, violin, and flute. In Western music notation, the treble clef is often applied since it is used for playing popular instruments.

We are most likely familiar with treble because it also appears on audio systems such as car stereos and equalizers. We are also most likely familiar with bass and mid-range in this context.

Treble Cannot Change the Song’s Overall Tone

The treble cannot change the song’s overall tone when it comes to audio systems. But it can emphasize the higher notes, making the sound clearer and brighter. In essence, if you increase the treble frequency in radio, the presenter’s voice becomes more comprehensible.

Lower Treble Frequency Explained

Since you can increase the treble frequency, you can lower it too. Doing so will make the sound more mellow. Most of the time, lowered treble frequencies seem to make the music lack power. Sometimes, it makes the song sound weak. But some musicians prefer it that way or intentionally integrate it into their music style. The thing is, lowered treble frequencies do not always suit all types of genres.

Higher Treble Frequency Levels Can Make Song Deafening or Ear-Piercing

In the same way, higher treble frequencies do not always suit all types of genres. It can make a song seem deafening or ear-piercing. Other times, it can make the music uncomfortable to listen to.

That’s why the correct treble frequency must be observed at all times.

Adjusting the treble, bass, and middle settings of your car stereo allows you to boost or cut frequencies from the speaker. In essence, you change the audio settings to make them sound more pleasing to your ears.

Treble Frequency Range

Treble frequencies range between 6,000 Hz and 20,000 Hz. At the same time, bass frequencies do not go higher than 150 Hz. As for the middle frequencies, they range between 200 Hz and 5,000 Hz.

Bass Allows You to Feel Pounding Bassline of the Music

While treble refers to the highest point of a frequency range, the bass is the opposite. The human voice, keyboards, and pianos can make low bass notes.

For audio systems such as the equalizer, turning up the bass will allow you to feel the pounding bassline of the music. Bass is usually emphasized in hip hop or RnB music genres.

But just like the treble frequency, the correct bass frequency must be observed at all times because there are instances when too much bass would cause walls and furniture to rattle. At times, some objects would even fall off.

Turning the Mid Up Results in Emphasized Notes

In essence, treble produces overtones or smaller but faster vibrations. At the same time, the bass has ghost tones or bigger but slower vibrations. Anything between the treble and the bass is the middle, midrange, or simply mid. In audio systems, turning the mid up will result in emphasized notes in the middle sound spectrum.

Treble, Bass, and Mid Settings

The standard setting for bass, mid, and treble should be at a ratio of 4:5, regardless of the system being used. This ratio allows the treble to shine through the bass and the mid. Nonetheless, it does not overpower the bass and mid frequencies.

Again, what is treble in music? In music, treble refers to the voice with the highest pitch, or it can refer to a high-pitched or shrill sound. Treble can also refer to musical instruments with a high range.

The treble is not better than the bass, and the bass is not better than the treble either. Emphasized treble and emphasized bass will result in harsh sounds that are not pleasing to the ears.

If you want an ultimate sound tripping experience, ensure that your music has a balanced equalization.

Should Treble Frequency Be Higher than Bass?

You might be wondering if the treble should be higher than the bass. The answer is yes, and there are several reasons why it should be that way. These include the following:

  • Reduction of Mid Frequency Muddiness
  • Balance of the Low End Rumble
  • Improved Vocal Projection

One of the issues typically encountered by musicians is the muddiness present in the frequency spectrum. This usually happens when the frequency range is between 400 Hz and 800 Hz. This usually occurs when the bass is turned up too much.

This is why you can’t turn the bass higher than the treble. Boosting the bass above the treble will surely result in sound issues.

For certain instruments, the frequencies ranging from 400 Hz to 800 Hz are called the life region. This applies to instruments like the piano. You have most likely observed that this instrument’s hit or bite lies in the life region if you play the piano. Suffice to say that you should also avoid the treble to boost over the bass.

Balance of the Low End Rumble

Low-end rumble happens when your bass is turned up higher than the treble. This means that the frequencies are below 440 Hz. They result in stronger and longer frequencies in propagation through space.

Even when you are simply adjusting the settings of our audio system, it is important to balance the treble and the bass well. Often, we like to hear a lot of basses when listening to music, especially when we are on a road trip. But make sure that the bass does not overpower the treble as this will surely ruin the music.

If you are familiar with audio production software, you will also notice that less than 30 Hz feature roll is available. This role enables you to clean audio data that are less than 30 Hz. It’s basically like cleaning the sound to create a smooth listening experience. Typically, the human ear does not hear the sound below 30 Hz. But then, it is felt by vibration.

Of course, we all know how important the vocals are when listening to a song. Typically, the vocals become muffled if you turn up the bass exaggeratedly. You find it hard to hear the lyrics, and you fail to understand the song’s message.

The frequency range for the vocals ranges between 700 Hz and 3000 Hz. This is also commonly known as the voice range. If the bass frequency is emphasized too much, it overpowers the voice region.

Suffice to say that you should not expect to hear clear vocals if you turn up the bass too much. But it is also not advisable to boost the vocals too much as this will result in a harsh sound. In fact, in music production, mixing the vocals is one of the most challenging tasks, if not the most.

It is best to adjust your TV’s treble and bass settings for an ultimate viewing experience. Typically, the settings for both range from 45 to 55%. The bass is usually 45%, while the treble is about 55%. This setting will result in a balanced frequency spectrum.

Does Treble Frequency Affect Bass?

If you wonder whether the treble affects the bass, the answer is yes. When you turn up the treble, the vibration caused by the bass in the audio system decreases. The treble maintains the balance and makes listening to music enjoyable.

Ideal Equalizer Setting

Are you curious about the ideal equalizer setting? Typically, you can set up the equalizer so that the treble, bass, and mid knobs are in a halfway position. This is the safest setting of all. However, it does not cover all types of music genres. Also, when you are in a concert setting or on a dancefloor, you want the sounds to be more impactful.

Equalizer Setting Will Depend on Your Preference

In essence, there is no right or wrong in terms of equalizing the audio system. It depends on the music genre and your personal preference. If you are playing a hip-hop song, you want a deeper and more emphasized bass. On the contrary, if you listen to old love songs, you want a higher treble and less bass.

Type of Material the Music Bounces off Can Affect How You Adjust

It is important to note that adjusting the treble, bass, and mid also depends on the material they bounce off of. For example, the bass is typically absorbed by soft and flexible surfaces. Whereas hard and flat surfaces typically absorb the treble.

JBL Flip 4 vs. Flip 5: Kick-A** Bluetooth Speakers

The world of audio equipment has seen a lot of evolution in recent years, with modern speaker technology getting more and more impressive as time goes by. Gone are the days of clunky speakers, oversized audio devices, and countless cables tangled up all over the place; nowadays, it’s possible to have a portable, wireless, high-powered speaker right in the palm of your hand. JBL is one brand that consistently excels in creating stellar Bluetooth speakers, with the Flip 4 and Flip 5 models being particular standouts. But which is better when comparing JBL Flip 4 vs. Flip 5?

JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5: Bring the Party With You

Both the JBL Flip 4 and Flip 5 wireless, Bluetooth speakers, make it so much easier for people to enjoy their music on the go. Both speakers allow listeners to become capable of effectively carrying around their own personal speaker system, ideal for parties, get-togethers with friends, long road trips, vacations, and so on.

JBL is widely regarded as one of the very best brands in the speaker business right now. The Flip 4 and Flip 5 models are perhaps the most popular of all Bluetooth speakers. In this guide, we will take a comprehensive look at how the JBL Flip 4 compares to the Flip 5.

JBL Charge 4 Charger

At first glance, there isn’t much about the Flip 4 that sets it apart from the previous Flip 3, and that’s because aside from a few minor design changes like the phone button being turned into a more fitting triangle for pause or play, there really isn’t too much difference between them. The Flip 4 is still rocking the iconic cylindrical shape with exposed passive bass radiators on either end to match the rest of the JBL line-up.

That said there is one key difference that makes this a worthy upgrade to the previous model – waterproofing. The JBL Flip 4 isn’t bad for music. It has a well-balanced sound profile out-of-the-box, making it suitable for listening to a wide variety of audio content.

It has a well-balanced mid-range, so vocals and lead instruments are accurately reproduced in the mix, though higher-pitched vocals may sound a bit dull at times.

That said, it struggles to reproduce low-bass, so you can’t feel the deep thump and rumble in bass-heavy music, and there isn’t a graphic EQ to tweak its sound. It also doesn’t get very loud, and there’s some compression present at max volume, so your audio doesn’t sound as clean at louder volumes.

JBL Flip 5 Charger

The Flip 5 is marginally bigger and heavier than its older sibling, but we hardly notice the difference. The new racetrack-shaped driver hiding under its jacket is 4mm wider in diameter – 44mm from 40mm – and the Flip 5 also features 20W of amplification, so you also get an extra 4W of power over the Flip 4. JBL claims the Flip 5 is waterproof to an IPX7 rating.

This means you should be able to submerge it in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes. There’s no cover for the USB-C charging port and though it is waterproofed, it isn’t tested against salt or sand ingress at the beach.

We test the JBL’s resolve by filling our sink with water and submerging the unit for a few minutes. Music plays throughout and it soon dries off when we take it out. Nothing has been compromised and all is well.

Although JBL claims you can stand the Flip 5 on one of its ends or lie it lengthways for listening, when placed upright it doesn’t stand entirely vertical. For testing, we place it in landscape mode so that both passive bass radiators are open to the elements.

The Flip 5 scores highly for portability, and once resting in our palm, the wrist strap slips comfortably over our hand and the buttons feel easily accessible.

Aside from a light-indicator to denote charging next to the Flip 5’s only port, there are light-up power and Bluetooth buttons along its rubberized spine, plus a play/pause button, volume controls and a PartyBoost button on top of the casing.

How To Pair JBL Earbuds

You should only pair your earbuds when they have reached a complete charge if it is your first time pairing them. Turn on your earbuds if they haven’t turned on automatically and activate the Bluetooth pairing mode. For most earbuds, this will be indicated by a blinking blue light on the earbud.

Follow these steps:

  • Bluetooth mode can be activated by a dedicated Bluetooth button on your earbuds or by holding down the center button for five seconds until it shuts off, then turning your headphones back on.
  • When your earbud is blinking blue, it is in pairing mode.
  • On the device you wish to pair it with, make sure that the Bluetooth capabilities are toggled on and it’s actively searching for new Bluetooth connections.
  • The JBL earbuds should show up in your list of selectable Bluetooth options if it hasn’t automatically connected already.
  • Once you have completed this process, your headphones should be stored in the Bluetooth options of your preferred device.

If you are having difficulty getting pairing mode to start on your earbuds, hold the middle button on the right earbud for five seconds until it turns off. When it turns on it should be in pairing mode.

Some JBL earbuds will not have a Bluetooth button but they should have a center button in the middle of the volume buttons, hold this to begin pairing.

  • Finally, while the Pairing button is blinking, you should be able to see your JBL Flip 5 on any in-range phone, computer, tablet, or smart speaker that is within several feet of it, as shown next. You can feel free to name your speaker, such as  “Rachel’s Flip 5”, although if you haven’t renamed yours, it will show up as “JBL Flip 5”.

How To Connect Multiple JBL Flip 4 Speakers

You certainly can pair most types of speakers by JBL with each other. So, you most likely won’t have a problem with connecting them together. You can even connect up to a hundred JBL speakers.

However, you should make sure that both devices have a JBL Connect (or JBL Connect+, or JBL PartyBoost) option. In case they do, you can move on to the next portion of this article where you’ll find the exact steps on connecting your gadgets.

One thing to have in mind is that only speakers featuring the same pairing/daisy-chaining technology are compatible with each other. So, JBL speakers featuring JBL Connect+ are not compatible with speakers featuring JBL PartyBoost.

In order to connect two JBL speakers together, you’ll first need to pair at least one with your phone or computer. If you’re not sure how to do that, don’t worry! We’ll cover the topic in this section. No matter if you have an iOS or Android device, pairing your speaker to a smartphone will be a simple job, just follow these steps:

  • The first step will be disconnecting your speaker from the device it was paired with before.
  • In case it isn’t your first time using your speaker, you should know that it will try to connect to the source it was previously linked to automatically. So, you’ll have to hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds or more so your speaker disconnects.
  • You will know that it got into pairing mode by the blinking light coming out of the speaker.
  • In case you’ve never used your JBL speaker before, you should simply turn the Bluetooth on by clicking the button on the speaker.
  • Then, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and turn on Bluetooth. Your phone will detect all of the devices that are around in a matter of seconds, so wait for that and then connect your speaker with your phone when you see it on the list.
  • Phones with the IOS operating system will most likely just pair with the device and the process will be over. On the other hand, most Android devices require a password to connect.
  • The code is usually four zeros, but in case it isn’t, you can find it in your speaker’s manual. Put on some music to ensure that everything is connected and you’re done!

Is JBL Flip 4 Waterproof?

The Flip 4 is IPX7 rated for waterproofing, which means it can be submerged in three feet of water for up to 30 minutes. This is pretty standard for portable bluetooth speakers, but we were still pleased with the Flip 4’s waterproofing and durability. Many users never feel like they are risking breaking it, or worried about water seeping into the ports.

The flap on the back of the speaker covers the ports well, with a watertight seal even a tsunami couldn’t conquer. Well, perhaps not, but we’d like to think the Flip 4 can hold its own in that battle. It also doesn’t hurt that replacing the speaker costs less than a grocery run at your local grocery store.

It might not be quite as affordable as the $35 Cambridge Oontz Angle 3 Plus yes, that name is a mouthful – but that speaker isn’t waterproof and doesn’t come with half the features found on the Flip 4.

Is JBL Flip 5 Waterproof?

You can bring the JBL Flip 5 into the shower without damaging them. They are partially waterproof, making them a great option for listening in the shower, in the rain, or poolside. They have some performance issues when submerged completely underwater, but a shower is fine for the JBL Flip 5.

JBL’s last few generations of the Flip speaker have been partially waterproof.

In other words, you could bring them around water, even into the shower, but you risked damage if you submerged them in water.

If your kid accidentally splashed the Flip 4, it might not have been a big deal. But if they dragged it underwater because it could make for a really cool make-believe submarine? Yeah, say goodbye to your poor speaker (haha).

If the seals on your Flip 4 were not properly closed, then even just humidity from the shower could wreak havoc.

Some folks even reported that, with the seals totally closed, exposure to humidity had them turning the speaker on and off and going to the Connect+ mode until they forced it to permanently power down.

Now, the JBL Flip 4 was IPX7 waterproof, which the JBL Flip 5 is too.

But there seems to be a difference in how well the JBL Flip 5 handles everything from a few drops of water to full submergence to encountering humidity from a hot shower.

So, if you are thinking about taking your Flip 5 into the shower with you, you can get some peace of mind from knowing that it is pretty hard to ruin this thing with water.

But there are a few details you should know before taking the Flip 5 in certain other water-related locations.

This means that you can submerge these speakers in up to 1 meter (or 3.3 feet) of water without causing any damage.

In other words, in order to be certifiably waterproof, a product has to be assigned the IPX7 or higher.

Some manufacturers take advantage of the “waterproof” term and apply it to products that are actually a lower-rated IPX (such as IPX4, which can get splashed but not be submerged without damage).

This is actually a really common practice, so be sure to check labels and read customer reviews before you buy anything.

Blackweb Speakers: Possibly The Most Important Guest At Your Party

Several companies have come up with excellent Bluetooth speakers that are great for both indoor and outdoor use. Among industry names like JBL and Bose, Blackweb is a company that has made excellent speakers for all kinds of users. What makes a Blackweb speaker a good option?

Blackweb Portable Speakers: Take the Party Wherever You Go

Blackweb speakers have a reputation for being water-resistant and having a rugged construction, which gives them an edge over other speakers when it comes to both indoor and outdoor use.

If you need a portable speaker for your home needs, and appreciate affordable options with stellar quality, this guide will tell you everything you need to know about Blackweb speakers.

When it comes to purchasing a Blackweb Bluetooth Speaker, this guide will take into account what specific features of this brand standout, and what you can expect.

Speaker Overview

Blackweb party speakers are affordable speaker options that offer great durability and sound quality. This is especially evident in their range of party speakers.

While the features appear standard and similar to most other brands available in the market, Blackweb packs quite a few innovative abilities that make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Let’s decipher each of the features closely to understand how it will add to the user experience.

  • Battery. The Blackweb Portable Bluetooth speaker has exceptionally long battery power. In addition to the 12 hours of playtime which is itself 30% more than most speakers of the same category, it offers 1500 hours of standby power. This is phenomenal, which means that you can keep the speaker on for more than two months on standby. Presently, very models match the standby power offered by this model.
  • RMS 10 W. For a compact speaker of this size, the speaker blasts out 10W of RMS, which means that you can get continuous power of 10W with occasional surge in peak power that makes the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. From an audiophile perspective, 10W of power in a portable speaker is probably all that you will need outdoors. If you need ear-splitting volumes, then you need a different category of speakers and systems. For outdoor use in small gatherings, this is a great choice, and will deliver lively, vibrant and a rich music experience.
  • Bluetooth connectivity. Bluetooth enables the pairing of the device with phones, laptops, tablets and desktops with ease. The added value is the ability to pair two speakers simultaneously which helps in an outdoor atmosphere where loud music will help enhance the experience. The speaker phone helps you to receive and make calls easily with crystal clear clarity.
  • The IPX5 waterproof rating. This makes a Blackweb speaker splash proof, which means that you can take the speaker to the poolside confidently. This rating also makes this the ideal companion during intense workouts, as you will not have to worry about sweat or spilled drinks affecting performance. Blackweb products have a reputation for good quality at a reasonable price. They are considered to be the premium line of electronics products made and sold by Walmart.

Blackweb audio products like speakers, headphones, and sound systems are highly rated.

Users find them to be reliable and durable, delivering quality performance at reasonable prices.

However, some reviewers have a less favorable opinion of Blackweb products. Reviewers who used Blackweb chargers found them to be of poor quality. This is the physical size and ideally, you need to look at portable Bluetooth speakers that have 40mm drivers. This is the standard size.

Though there are models with bigger driver size, this will impact the overall size of the portable speaker. You may therefore have to make a tradeoff between driver size (performance) and size of the speaker. If you are more inclined towards thump and loudness, then you need to sacrifice portability. If you need portability, you need to compromise on driver size. The best bet is to have one with a 40 mm driver size.

Blackweb Bluetooth speakers have a reputation for good quality at low prices. They are also water-resistant and have a rugged construction, which makes them suitable for outdoor use as well.

Blackweb Bluetooth speakers are very popular for their wireless convenience and portability, as well as innovation and durability.

Who Manufactures Blackweb?

Blackweb is Walmart’s brand of premium electronics products, including computer and gaming accessories like keyboards, speakers, headphones, chargers, cables, and more.

It’s currently unclear who makes Blackweb products for Walmart. Additionally, it’s believed that Walmart is phasing out Blackweb products or merging them with its lower-priced own brand of electronics, which are made in China.

There is also a level of mystery behind the brand, since people cannot quite pin down exactly how and where Blackweb products are manufactured. With that said, Blackweb products are made by Walmart and sold in company stores and online. Blackweb is a trademark of Walmart, and was created in 2015.

Is Blackweb A Walmart Brand?

Yes. Blackweb is wholly owned by Wal-Mart Inc., the global retail chain.

Blackweb is a premium brand that manufactures electronics and accessories through Wal-Mart and other stores. In addition to Bluetooth speakers, the company manufactures MP3 docking stations, and an entire range of computer and electronic accessories.

The brand has a reputation among buyers for products of exceptional quality. It is regarded as one among the more reliable of brands, and actual reviews of products reflect high ratings and a positive experience overall.

How To Reset A Sonos Speaker: A Pro Walk-Through

Without any doubt, Sonos has earned a spot in users’ hearts by making it into the best speaker brands list lately. How? By bringing to the market some of the best multi-room speakers you can buy right now. Like any electronic device, Sonos speakers are not immune to sudden issues. That doesn’t mean you need a new speaker, most of the time a reboot or reset will do wonders. So how do you reset a Sonos speaker?

Sonos Speaker Resets: A Bit More Than You Might Think

Resetting a Sonos speaker can be difficult, so you will want to reinstall your Sonos speaker. That is why you reset the speaker to factory settings. This clears all settings of the speaker, so you can reset it again.

In this guide, we will show you how to reset a Sonos product to its factory default settings. You may want to do this if you wish to sell it, give it away, or as part of a troubleshooting process when you’ve exhausted all other options. The process is simple to start and only takes a few minutes.

Resetting A Sonos Speaker

Here are the following steps you should follow closely:

Remove Plug from Speaker

The first thing you have to do is to unplug the power cord from the power source, and then unplug it from the wall. After all that, you will have to disconnect the AC adapter from the wall. Remove the power cable from the AC adapter. Afterwards, you will have to locate a screw on the back of your Sonos.

While reconnecting the power cable, press and hold the Join icon. You can reconnect the control by pressing and holding the Play / Pause or Mute button if your product does not have the Join button. After that, keep the button down until it turns orange and white.

Identify Correct Buttons for Your Sonos Speaker

To know how to reset a Sonos speaker, you must first identify the correct buttons including their function and their locations. They are usually located on the back, top, or side of your products. Follow these steps:

  • For the Sub, the Join or Connect button is on the speaker’s right side.
  • For the Playbar, you should locate the right side of the soundbar. There, you can find the Pause button.
  • For the Playbase, the Join button is found on the left side of the speaker.
  • For the Beam, the back of the speaker is where you can find the Join button.

Hold the Button of Your Sonos Speaker

When you first get your Sonos smart home player, you’ll find a reset button on the left side. There is a very small light that glows red and then goes off once the button is pressed. You just need to press and hold it for a few seconds. After which the LED screen will come up and show that the device has been successfully reset.

Open the Sonos app on your iPhone or Android device. Then, create or sign in to your Sonos account after tapping Set up a new system. The instructions should all be very straightforward.

On the popup that shows your Sonos product, tap Add. Click Continue then Set up items if you’re using the Sonos S1 software. Set up your Sonos Move or other Sonos products and add your music and voice services by following the process the app details. You can test if everything works with the voice control as well.

To reboot or reset your Sonos Speaker, you must remove the power cord from the outlet and wait for ten seconds. Then, allow one minute for the product to boot up after reconnecting the cord.

Note: For Play 1, Play 3, and Play 5 (Gen-1), connect the Amp and Playbar, and move away from the charging platform.  Play 5 Gen 2 will follow other rules. Then, switch off the status light, press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, and wait for ten seconds to process. The device has finished resetting when the light turns green.

Factory Reset

There are several reasons why you might want to factory reset your Sonos speaker. Maybe you moved and need to connect it to a new Wi-Fi network. Maybe you’re giving your Sonos speaker to a friend. Maybe you’re trading it in or looking to resell it. Or maybe the Sonos speaker just isn’t working properly — it happens.

The good news is that it’s fairly easy to return your Sonos speaker to its factory settings. It just requires a combination of you unplugging and replugging the speaker, as well as you holding down a button (or two) on the speaker. And it requires a little bit of patience, too.

Each Sonos speaker is a little bit different, as they don’t all have the same buttons, so the process of factory resetting is going to vary from speaker to speaker. Depending on which Sonos speaker you have, here’s your guide to factory resetting it.

The process for factory resetting the Sonos One is the same for the One SL, Five, Beam, Arc, Sub, Port and Amp. It applies to a few of Sonos’s older speakers, too, including the Playbase and Play: 5 (gen-2). Here’s how to factory reset them all: Unplug the speaker.

  • Press and hold the Connect button located on the back of the speaker. Plug the speaker back into the wall out.
  • Continue holding down the Connect button until the speaker’s light starts flashing white and amber.
  • When the light starts flashing green, the speaker has been reset.

The process for factory resetting the Sonos Play:1 is the same process for the Play:3, Play:5 (gen-1), Connect, and the Connect: Amp and Playbar. Here’s how to factory reset them all:

  • Unplug the speaker.
  • Press and hold the Play/Pause button located on the top of the speaker. Plug the speaker back into the wall out.
  • Continue holding down the Play/Pause button until the speaker’s light starts flashing white and amber.
  • When the light starts flashing green, the speaker has been reset

The process for factory resetting Sonos’s two portable speakers, the Move and the Roam, is also a little different. And because the Move and the Roam have slightly different buttons, each’s factory resetting process is unique. Here’s how to reset the Move:

  • Make sure the speaker is on and not connected to power.
  • Press and hold the power button for five (or more) seconds. This will turn it off.
  • Press and hold the pairing button (the infinite icon) and plug the speaker back in.
  • Continue holding the pairing button until the speaker’s light starts flashing white and amber.
  • When the light starts flashing green, the speaker has been reset

The process for factory resetting the Sonos Roam is a little bit different from the Move. Here’s how to reset the Roam:

  • Make sure the speaker is on and not connected to power.
  • Press and hold the power button for five (or more) seconds. This will turn it off.
  • Press and hold the Play/Pause button and, while doing so, press and release the power button on the back of the Roam.
  • Continue holding the Play/Pause button until the speaker’s light starts flashing white and amber.
  • When the light starts flashing green, the speaker has been reset.

How to Hook Up Two Amps with One RCA Jack

The RCA jack is the standard connector for audio signals. It is also a phono jack, phone jack, or tip-ring-sleeve (TRS) connector. The name “phono” comes from being used initially to connect phonograph players to amplifiers. The RCA jack has three parts: the tip, the ring, and the sleeve. The tip is the end of the plug that goes into the socket first. The ring is in the middle, and the sleeve is on the outside.

RCA plugs and jacks are used in various applications, including home stereo systems, car stereos, and professional audio equipment. They are also connected to video equipment, such as camcorders and DVD players. One of the most common uses for the jack is to hook up two amps.

Putting the RCA Jack to Use: Hooking Up Two Amps

If you want to hook up two amps with one RCA jack, you need to use a Y-connector. A Y-connector is a cable with one RCA plug on one end, and two RCA plugs on the other end. To use a Y-connector, connect the single RCA plug to the output of your first amplifier, then connect the two RCA plugs to the inputs of your second amplifier.

Remember that you will need to have separate left and suitable input jacks on your second amplifier for this setup to work correctly. If your second amplifier only has one input jack, you can use a mono-to-stereo adapter.

Tools and Materials Needed to Hook Up Two Amps with One RCA Jack

  • Two amplifiers
  • One RCA cable
  • Speaker wire
  • Electrical tape
  • Wire cutters

Few Instructions to Help

First, you will need to disconnect the negative battery terminal in your car. That is to prevent any potential electrical shocks. Once that is done, you can begin connecting the two amplifiers.

Take the RCA cable and plug one end into the first amplifier’s “line out” port. Then, take the other end of the RCA cable and plug it into the second amplifier’s “line in” port. Make sure that both amplifiers are turned off before doing this.

Next, you will need to connect each amplifier to its respective speaker. For this, you will need to use the speaker wire:

  1. Cut two pieces of speaker wire, each long enough to reach from the amplifier to the speaker.
  2. Strip about a half-inch of insulation off of each end of the wire. Plug one end of each wire into the “speaker out” port on each amplifier, and then screw on the binding post to secure it.
  3. Take the other end of the wires and twist them around the metal terminals on your speakers.

Once everything is connected, you can turn on both amplifiers and test to ensure that everything is working correctly. If everything sounds good, then you are all done. Just be sure to tuck away any loose wires and tape down any sharp edges so that nobody gets hurt.

Now that you know how to hook up two amps with one RCA jack, you can enjoy your music without worrying about sound quality. That is a great way to get the most out of your audio setup and make sure that everyone can enjoy the music as much as possible.

How to Hook Up Two Amps with One RCA Jack

The steps are essential because they ensure that you connect the amplifiers correctly and that everything is working correctly. By following these steps, you can be sure that your music is playing perfectly and everybody enjoys that:

Step One

First, you will need to gather all of the necessary items. You will need two amplifiers, one RCA cable, speaker wire, and some electrical tape. Once you have all the items, you can begin hooking everything up.

Step Two

The second thing you will need to do is connect the RCA cable to the first amplifier. Once the RCA cable is connected, you can connect the other end of the cable to the second amplifier. Make sure that both amplifiers are turned off before connecting anything.

Step Three

Now that both amplifiers are connected with the RCA cable, you can now start connecting the speaker wire. Start by running the length of the speaker wire from the first amplifier to the second amplifier. Once you have done this, you can connect the other end of the speaker wire to the positive terminal on the first amplifier.

Step Four

Finally, you can now turn on both amplifiers. You may need to adjust the volume levels on both amplifiers to equal. After doing this step by step process, you can sit back and enjoy your music.

Summing Up

In conclusion, by following the simple steps and using the proper tools and materials needed you can better understand how to hook up two amps with one RCA jack. You can be sure that your system will run smoothly and sound great.

While there are some minor disadvantages to using a splitter cable or daisy-chaining amps, these methods are still the best way to get great sound without purchasing additional equipment.

Buy the system and level up its worth. Connect several speakers to your amp. We hope this guide will help you in a better way to hook up two amps with one RCA jack.

FAQ’S:

How do you amp up with an RCA jack?

It can be pretty challenging to have two amplifiers but only one input for everything to go through smoothly. The solution? Connect your RCA jacks (which connect directly into the speakers) with an appropriately sized splitter cable.

How to split RCA cable to connect two amplifiers?

You can use either a splitter cable or an RCA hookup wire to connect two amplifiers. With the first method of connecting splitters to outlets, plug one end into each amp’s input and output plugs, respectively, then attach them with twist locks at both ends for extra security.

In most cases, this will work well because it doesn’t require much manual strength when pushing down on these buttons.

What are the disadvantages of using one RCA jack for two amps?

If you want to safely connect more than one amplifier, then this is not the way for you. For example, a single RCA jack was made with just enough power supply for ONE amp. But if we split it and put two amplifiers into each side of our speaker wire (or another audio signal distributor), both will share what little juice that comes out from where they’re connected on an individual channel. This means less efficiency overall.

Where do I plug RCA cables into the amp?

If you are looking for an easy way to connect your amp with the help of RCA wires, then this is perfect. You will require two cables to achieve these results, and they can be purchased at most stores that sell electronics equipment.

Fuse Keeps Blowing in Car

If you’re reading this, we know you’re probably irritates because a fuse keeps blowing in your car. When an electrical current flows through a conductor, such as a wire, some of the energy is lost in the form of heat. The fusible element in a fuse is designed to melt when too much current passes through it, interrupting the flow of electricity and protecting the circuit from overheating.

Don’t Blow Your Stack When Your Fuse Keeps Blowing

If your car’s fuse keeps blowing, you’re going to need to take some steps to diagnose and fix the problem:

  • First, you’ll want to check the fuse box for any apparent signs of damage.
  • If there is any corrosion or burning, this is likely the root of your problem.
  • Next, you’ll need to identify which circuit is causing the problem.
  • You can do this by disconnecting each fuse one at a time and seeing if the blowing stops.
  • Once you’ve found the problem circuit, you’ll need to figure out what’s causing too much current to flow through it.
  • This could be a short circuit, an electrical leak, or a component drawing too much power.
  • If you’re not sure how to fix the problem, it’s best to consult a professional mechanic.
  • They’ll be able to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs.

What to do if the fuse keeps blowing in car

There are several reasons why your car’s fuse might keep blowing:

-A short circuit somewhere in the electrical system

-A faulty component, such as a stereo or other accessory

-A problem with the wiring

-A bad connection

If you’re having trouble pinpointing the problem, it’s good to take your car to a mechanic or an auto electrician. They will be able to diagnose the issue and make any necessary repairs.

That can be a frustrating problem, but there are some things you can do to try and fix it. First, check all of the connections in your electrical system, including any aftermarket components like stereos or alarm systems.

Ensure that everything is connected correctly and that there are no loose wires. If everything looks good, the next step is to check the fuse box.

Ensure that all fuses are tight in their sockets and that there are no burnt out or damaged fuses. If you still can’t find the problem, it’s time to take your car to a professional.

What Next for a Blown Fuse?

If you have checked all of the connections in your electrical system or speakers and everything looks good, the next step is to check the fuse box. Ensure that all fuses are tight in their sockets and that there are no burnt out or damaged fuses.

If you still can’t find the problem, it’s time to take your car to a professional. With their help, you should be able to identify and fix the issue quickly.

Troubleshooting Blown Fuse Issues in Your Car

If your car’s fuse keeps blowing, it can be frustrating and leave you feeling helpless. However, there are some steps that you can take to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Start by checking your car’s owner’s manual. It will have a fuse box diagram and show you what each fuse corresponds to.

Once you have located the blown fuse, use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove it from the socket. Then, insert a new fuse of the same amperage into the socket and reattach the panel or cover. Test your electrical system to ensure that everything is working correctly.

If you are still having issues with blown fuses, it is best to take your car to a qualified mechanic or auto electrician for further diagnosis and repair. They will be able to pinpoint the root cause of the problem and make any necessary repairs. Continuing to drive with blown fuses can damage your car’s electrical system or sound system and cause more severe problems down the road.

The top common causes of a car fuse that keeps blowing:

  1. Fuse amp rating too small
  2. Short in the wiring
  3. Failed component
  4. Overload in the circuit the fuse to blow.
  5. Bad fuse
  6. Faulty wiring

Fuse amp rating too small

One of the most common reasons a fuse will keep blowing is because it is not the proper amp rating for the circuit.

If you have a 20-amp fuse in a circuit that requires 30 amps, the fuse will frequently blow because it is not rated to handle the amount of current flowing through it.

You need to replace the fuse with the correct amp rating to fix this problem. The rating should be printed on the side of the fuse, so be sure to check before purchasing a replacement.

Short in wiring

Another common reason for blown fuses is a short circuit in the wiring. That can happen if there is a frayed wire or loose connection somewhere in the system.

When a short circuit occurs, many current flows through the circuit, causing the fuse to blow.

To fix this problem, you need to find the source of the short and repair it. That may require some troubleshooting, but it is usually a reasonably easy fix.

Failed component

Another possible cause of a blown a fuse is a failed component. That can be something as simple as a burned-out light bulb or, more serious, like a failing alternator.

If you suspect that a failed component is the reason for your blown fuse, you will need to have the car inspected by a mechanic to diagnose the problem.

Replacing a blown a fuse is usually a quick and easy fix. However, if the fuse keeps blowing, it could indicate a more severe problem. Check for other issues before replacing the fuse to avoid damaging your car’s electrical system.

Overload in the circuit

Another potential cause of blown fuses is simply having too much load on the circuit. That can happen if you are trying to run too many electrical devices at once.

For example, if you have a stereo and subwoofer hooked up to one circuit and try to add another appliance, such as a heated seat, the fuse may blow because the circuit is overloaded.

You need to either remove some of the devices from the circuit or add another fused circuit to accommodate the additional load to fix this problem.

Bad Fuse

Sometimes, a fuse will blow because it is simply faulty or bad. For example, this can happen if the fuse is old or has been damaged. If you suspect that the fuse is wrong, you can test it with a multimeter to see if it has continuity.

If the fuse does not have continuity, it needs to be replaced. You can purchase replacement fuses at most auto parts stores.

Faulty Wiring

Another potential cause of blown fuses is faulty wiring. That can happen if the wires are frayed or broken, which can cause a short circuit. Again, you need to repair or replace the damaged wiring to fix this problem.

That may require some soldering, so it is best to consult with a professional if you are not experienced in this area.

The Bottom Line

So, what do you do if the fuse keeps blowing in car? The steps mentioned above will help you to diagnose and fix the issues. The first step is to try and identify what caused it. Next, you can troubleshoot fuse issues in your car by checking the wiring, components, and amps.

If you’re still having trouble after checking these things, it’s time to take your car to a mechanic for further inspection. Remember, prevention is always the best cure, so keep an eye on your car’s electrical system or sound system and replace blown fuses as soon as possible.

FAQ’s

Why does my car keep blowing fuses? What should I do if my fuse keeps blowing?

Blown fuses are a big problem. The simple fix can often be replacing the fuse and testing your car again, but when they don’t go away after two or three tries, then there might need to do some deeper troubleshooting to find out what is going on with the circuit breaker box (or whatever device you’re dealing).

What is the purpose of a fuse in a car?

The automotive fuse is a small device that protects against overloading and burning by cutting off electricity flow when it detects too much pressure in one place. It’s easy to replace yourself; just break open the casing near where you’ll find two metal prongs that can be pushed apart with your fingers or punched out if they’re stuck together tightly enough.

Can a short circuit cause a fuse to blow?

Fixing a short in the electrical system is much easier than identifying where there’s trouble. For example, it may be just one bad connection between two conductors, which would cause an overload and blown fuse instead of what you think it might have been – like overheating wiring or melting plastic.

What Is the Best Powered Subwoofer?

Powered Subwoofers: Audio Power in A Box

Powered subwoofers are designed to reproduce low frequencies that cannot be accurately or clearly reproduced by other types of speakers, such as all-purpose stereo speakers, mids, and tweeters. The frequency response varies between subwoofers and depends on a number of factors, including the size of the subwoofer, the amplifier, the type of enclosure, and the power rating.

In this guide, we will explore these details and more to determine the best powered subwoofers. We will also review the top three powered subwoofers on the market today. Read on to learn more about what makes the best powered subwoofer.

Powered Subwoofers Explained

In general, larger, high-power subwoofers contained in enclosures designed to reproduce low bass notes produce the lowest frequencies. Depending on the design, the frequency response can extend below 20 Hertz (Hz), which is below the range of human hearing.

Similar to other types of speakers, a powered subwoofer’s cone can be made from a variety of materials. These include paper, synthetic materials, and combinations of the two. Although paper doesn’t last as long as other materials, it does provide a quick response to the audio due to its lower density construction.

The cone’s material also affects the audio quality of the subwoofer, but cone preference is largely subjective, or it depends on what the listener likes best.

A powered subwoofer can be used in any application where a passive subwoofer is applied. Common applications include automotive sound systems, home audio, music production, and live musical events. For applications requiring the fewest components and those where space is highly limited, a powered subwoofer is a good option because the amplifier is contained inside the enclosure, allowing it to take up less space.

The types of powered subwoofers available vary in cost and style according to their uses. Typically, large subwoofers measuring at least 18 inches (45.72 cm) designed for live events cost more than those designed for home theaters and vehicles. Powered subwoofers designed for music production also tend to cost more than home and car audio subwoofers.

The higher costs are attributed to higher power ratings and increased accuracy when reproducing audio, respectively. In terms of style, the enclosures used for car audio subwoofers typically provide more options, including a larger number of colors to choose from and carpeted enclosures.

Like passive subwoofers, it is possible to build a powered subwoofer from components or a subwoofer kit. A kit for a powered subwoofer contains the subwoofer, an amplifier, audio connectors, and hookup wire. The hookup wire connects the subwoofer to the amplifier internally and permanently, while the audio connectors allow the subwoofer to be connected to a sound source, such as an audio interface or stereo receiver.

In some cases, additional audio connectors are provided, so the sound can be sent from the subwoofer’s internal amplifier to other speakers, such as mids and tweeters that handle higher frequencies.

Some kits also include additional components, such as an enclosure, speaker batting, and a crossover. Speaker batting absorbs audio reflections inside the subwoofer’s enclosure, allowing the bass frequencies to be deeper and reproduced with a flatter frequency response.

The crossover splits the incoming audio signal into separate frequency bands and sends the lowest frequencies to the subwoofer. If a crossover isn’t included, it might be built into the subwoofer’s amplifier.

How Will You Integrate Subs Into Your PA System?

There are several ways of adding subs into your system. One of the simplest is to create a sub-mix on your mixing console where you send the kick drum and bass to the Aux output and then connect that to your powered subwoofer.

Other options include running your subwoofers in parallel to your main PA speakers if your subs have high pass filters. In more complex setups you will use a crossover unit to split the frequencies before sending the signal to your subs.

Your Type of Music & Driver Size

Acoustic performers and folk style bands will find the smaller 12″ drivers provide all the bottom end they need, but if you perform bass heavy styles then you’ll need larger drivers that are capable of moving a lot more air – this is particularly true for EDM style DJs.

Use as Stage Monitors

Many drummers and sometimes bass players use a powered subwoofer in addition to a standard stage monitor in order to get a full punchy bottom end on stage.

Portability

Generally speaking, powered subwoofers aren’t entirely portable friendly, being an extra speaker that you have to lug around. But for many, the added effort, space requirements and weight of subs are justified by the sound they produce. Still, it will be wise to weigh your low-frequency needs versus your convenience and mobility.

If you’re a solo performer with no one to help you carry your gear, then go for lighter subs, or maybe no subs at all. Even with bulky subwoofers, you may want to look for mobility features like built-in rolling casters.

To solve the problem of inadequate power from a specific receiver or amplifier, powered subwoofers (also referred to as Active Subwoofers) are utilized. This type of subwoofer is self-contained. It features a speaker/amplifier configuration in which the characteristics of the amplifier and subwoofer speaker are optimally matched and encased in the same enclosure.

As a side benefit, all a powered subwoofer needs is a single cable connection from a home theater receiver or surround sound preamp/processor line output (also referred to as a subwoofer preamp output or LFE output).

Whether a subwoofer is passive or powered isn’t the determining factor on how good the subwoofer is. However, powered subwoofers are by far the most commonly used as they have their own built-in amplifiers and are not dependent on any amplifier limitations of another receiver or amplifier.

This makes them very easy to use with home theater receivers. All home theater receivers come equipped with either one or two subwoofer pre-amp line outputs that are specifically designed to connect to a powered subwoofer.

On the other hand, the external amplifier required to run a passive subwoofer may be more expensive than the passive subwoofer you have.

In most cases, it is more cost-effective to buy a powered subwoofer in place of a Passive Subwoofer. If you still choose the passive option, the subwoofer pre-out from a home theater receiver has to connect to the external subwoofer amplifier’s line-in connection, with the external amplifier’s subwoofer speaker connection(s) going to the passive subwoofer.

The only other connection option is that is available for a passive subwoofer is that if the passive subwoofer has in and out standard speaker connections, you can connect the left and right speaker connections on a receiver or amplifier to the passive subwoofer and then connect the left and right speaker output connections on the passive subwoofer to your main left and right front speakers.

In this type of setup, the subwoofer will “strip off” the low frequencies utilizing an internal crossover, sending the mid-range and high frequencies to the additional speakers connected to the subwoofer’s speaker outputs. This eliminates the need for an extra external amplifier for the passive subwoofer but may put more strain on your receiver or amplifier because of the demands for low-frequency sound output.

The Exception to the Subwoofer Connection Rules

Many powered subwoofers have both line input and speaker connections. This enables it to accept signals from either an amplifier’s speaker connections or an amplifier/home theater receiver subwoofer preamp output connection.

However, in both cases, the incoming signal goes through the powered sub’s internal amps, taking the load off the receiver.

This means that if you have an older home theater receiver or amplifier that does not have a dedicated subwoofer preamp output connection, you can still use a powered subwoofer with both standard speaker connections and line inputs.

The Wireless Connection Option

Another subwoofer connection option that is getting more popular (only works with powered subwoofers) is wireless connectivity between the subwoofer and the home theater receiver or amplifier. This can be implemented in two ways:

  • The subwoofer comes with a built-in wireless receiver and also provides an external wireless transmitter that plugs into the subwoofer line output of a home theater receiver or amplifier.
  • You can purchase an optional wireless transmitter/receiver kit that can connect to any powered subwoofer that has a line input and any home theater receiver, AV processor, or amplifier that has a subwoofer or LFE line output

Selection Guide; what battery to buy for my car audio system

What’s a good battery for car audio? The factors highlighted below will help make an informed decision even as look at different variations offered by manufacturers.

Cold-Cranking Amps (CCA) and Reserve-Capacity

This is the ability of the battery to power the audio system in cold temperatures. A battery’s CCA should match the number of watts produced and the higher the number of CCA the higher the amount of power produced. As such you should always look out for these two elements.

Size and Fitting

The size should fit properly in the battery tray provided. You should check the dimensions provided in the user manual to see if it will fit. The positioning of the terminals should also be correct. This is important because just as with your primary car battery, a loose audio battery will result in vibrations which will eventually damage the battery itself and consequently the audio system.

Care and Maintenance of the Battery

Ideally, your battery will either require some little maintenance or no maintenance at all. Those that require little maintenance comes in unsealed design where you can add water occasionally before you can eventually replace them.  Those that don’t require maintenance, on the other hand, are completely sealed allowing for only replacements in case of any damage.

Battery Age

Just like other batteries, car audio batteries power units can get damaged if they are not charged for some time. Any battery that has exceeded six months since it was manufactured should be avoided as it is likely that it has lost some power.

Price of the Battery

They are two major divisions of batteries that determine the price tag; wet- cells and dry-cell units. The dry-cell units are more expensive than the wet cell and they serve longer. Wet-cell, on the other hand, is inferior to the dry cell only that they power the stereo system a bit faster when compared to the dry cell.

The Bottom Line

A second audio battery for car audio is a crucial accessory as it relieves the main car battery of the burden of powering your sound system. Picking a durable and high-performing one will assure you of many years of short and long trips with the desired level of entertainment.

Before you settle on any battery for your car audio, you need to look at the kind of battery that is best for your car. It should be a reliable source of power that will deliver optimal performance.
